Hi All
My name is Randy and I am joining this forum in anticipation of my new arrival.. a black and tan 87 XJ6. This was my step father in law's car which we have inherited since he can no longer drive because of his age. It was his pride and joy.
He was the second owner and acquired the car in 1995. Years ago we all went out to dinner in the car.... I was so impressed with the ride and aesthetics of the the car that I told him I would be interested in it if he ever decided to sell.
A couple of months ago, we got the call that the folks were moving into a retirement home and that their condo was going up for sale. The car, which has been sitting for about 2 years needed to be removed from the garage.
I threw a charge on the battery to see if it would start but no luck... battery would only come up to 6 volts. The car was then towed to Britalia in Fullerton CA 2 weeks ago. $2600 later, the mechanics there have gone through the car and report that it should be roadworthy, smogged etc by the end of this coming week.
I'm really looking forward to finally getting behind the wheel of this baby again. It is my intention to keep it as my primary driver for as long as I can keep it running. Pictures etc to follow once I take delivery.
