Cool New member, young x350 owner

New here, hopefully this forum site will be a useful tool for me. I am 22 and in the United States Marine Corps. Money is tight. I bought my beautiful XJ8 for a great price. I found that maintenance can be very pricey. I am VERY mechanically inclined so I tend to just do all the labor on the vehicle myself. My cars main issue is the suspension. I have lost 2 shocks already, at two different times. The first one I replaced myself, purchasing Arnott's direct replacement reman front comfort air strut. I love that company, money wise they keep me out of hot water. Now that I have lost a second strut, my left rear strut, I have made the decision to buy Arnott's all new coil over conversion kit. I will also be doing the full installation on that project myself as well. It is kinda exciting. I have two other minor issues with the car. The tint on my driver side mirror just started to mess up. It looks like the copper colored tint "stuff" is "rolling" down. The other minor issue is my backup sensors most of the time do not work. I cannot find the circuitry for the system, nor do I have a manual that will help me locate fuses. Maybe some advise. Take care.

Welcome to the forum,

The XJ8 forum is the best spot to get tech advice.
You don't say what year the car is but you should find the handbook here TOPIx - TOPIx and this is a good source for electrical diagrams Jaguar electrical reference don't forget to look in the FAQ sections here also.

Welcome to the forum.

There is currently a 'hot' thread in the X350 section and in the FAQ about installing Arnott struts.

Stay safe.

Default Here she is!!!

I love the car, but I have to say, they have their fair share of issues. As I mentioned before, 2 struts have failed. I do understand that between 80,000 and 100,000 miles, any air suspension component is subject to failure due to worn and leaky seals. Also, my throttle body position sensor, the wiring harness' connector basically broke down and fell apart. After beating myself up trying to trouble shoot the car after it continuously would put itself into limp mode, I found the broken plug while attempting to clean the throttle body. My cooling system has failed on me. Of coarse, thermostat. Besides those issues, I still very much so love and enjoy my car.
