Hi all! I am a new owner of a 2000 XK8 convertible. I have always been a "Corvette Girl", but we painted a Jag for a customer about a year ago and I became infatuated. I sold my 1963 T-Bird and bought my XK8, and am really developing an appreciation for this machine's beauty and sophistication.

That said, I found this forum while searching for how to properly remove the emblems for painting. My birthday wish was for my husband to paint my car satin black with a racing stripe (I know, so much for beauty and sophistication :lol ). I also plan to modify the exhaust so it's not quite so refined, I like sound effects when I drive. Hopefully you will let me hang around anyway so I can figure out how to get my 6-disc to work, and perhaps my automatic headlights.

Thanks!

Welcome badkitty,

T-Bird to XK8 is some change. Sounds like paintwork is finished? Let's see some pics.

XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section has all the info on autochangers and auto headlights.

Thank you for the warm welcome. We'll be painting this weekend, I'll post pics as soon as it's reassembled.

Yes it is, but very good preparation for the mechanical "unpredictability" of the XK8. We own a custom/restoration shop and my hubby likes to "walk the walk" so we never drive normal, practical cars. He did get a little perturbed that I went rogue and bought a car from this century , his daily driver is a 1959 Caddy.

BadKitty is all blacked out. Decided against the racing stripe after I saw how sexy her lines looked in flat black.
