Hey Folks,
My name's Matthew and I'm excited to be a part of this community. Been scouring Craigslist for years waiting for the right vintage XJ-8 and finally found a '97 that spent it's life rust-free in Florida before making its way back up to me in Detroit. I believe the following year is when Ford bought the company? It being a black Vanden Plas in great cosmetic condition was icing on the cake. That said, I've spent about quadruple what I paid for it in repairs (rebuilt transmission, brand new front and rear suspension, new AC compressor, new ABS sensor, etc. etc.) but well worth it!
Just get it waxed and it looks brand new. Only problem is, I've started to lose hubcaps while driving. I managed to hear one fall off & was able to go back and find it on the roadside. I realize the plastic tabs give out over time. Replacements are quite expensive. Anyone know where to find the cheapest option? Thank you all!
Hello, Matthew,
Congratulations on Finally obtaining your new Jaguar XJ8! And a Very nice looking example it is too.
Not too surprising to spend that kind of money on a 27 year old car if all those things hadn't been properly attended to all along. But now you have a Jag that not only looks great but is in pretty good repair. Good Job!!
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.
