"New" XJ8 owner
Well, new to me. After many years of yearning, I found myself able to purchase a 2004 XJ8. Only ~70,000 miles, excellent condition and clean inside and out. Now, I'm spending all my time on the 'net trying to read and learn.
I'm a retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant (E6), currently working as a Government contractor at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. Look forward to meeting and interacting with people here.

Hey Mitch, welcome to the site, great to have you with us

Get some pics posted up man and show her off a little
maybe post one of yourself in the mug shot thread.Hope you enjoy your time with us
Thank you, all. Yes, I'll have pics up soon.
I only got one key and fob when I bought the car. The previous owner has said he cannot find the spare. I've found "blank" Jaguar keys and fobs on eBay, ranging from $30 to $100 dollars. Are these good deals? I understand I would still have to take it to the dealer for keying to my car.
Thanks

Hi Mitch, nice to meet you. I am new here too. About the key, I asked the dealer (Ford dealership, no jag dealer in my little town) if there were two keys before I bought mine and he told me "yes," however there was only one, so the dealer is paying for a new key (lucky me). He told me that if I were to go to jag dealer and get one it would cost 350 USD for the blank and about 150 USD for the cutting and programing. If that guy is not full of it, 50 to 100 sounds good if you trust Ebay.

Hi Mitch, I'm new here too as well as being a new owner of a 2004 XJ8. Do you have one working regular key and one working valet key? If so, you can program the new remotes yourself. I just got instructions for doing so and found it to be very easy. Also, I recently purchased a couple of remotes from eBay and they also programmed and work fine. Let me know if you need instructions and I will be happy to share them with you.

I think I've found what I need here. $129 for an uncut key, with the barcode on the package.
I'm going to call the dealer today to get his price. I know it's going to be steep, but we're going out of town this coming weekend, and we're taking the Jag, to see how it handles. ;^). I'd hate to be stuck 400 miles from home and lose the only key. I won't get the key from eBay fast enough (I have to add funds to PayPal first). Sigh.
