New XJ8 from Texas
I just bought a 2000 XJ8 and looking forward to the smooth ride. After back surgery just made things worse, I decided I'd better get a super-smooth luxury car. The cattle trails Fort Worth calls streets are just awful. I'm convinced the only reason they put down any asphalt at all was simply to keep the dust down. It certainly wasn't intended to provide a smooth surface to drive on. Now, I'm a car-guy, having always driven cool sports cars, muscle cars and of course being in Fort Worth, pickup trucks my whole life, so the thought of driving a Caprice or Grand Marquis, well, those cars may ride like clouds, but blandness just doesn't appeal. Ever since I was a kid in the 70s I'd always thought Jaguar made the best looking 4-door sedans and the x-300 and x-308 are the best looking full-size 4-door sedans made in the last 20 years.
This 90K mile gem came with a full service history from a Jaguar dealer and everything works - runs and drives beautifully. It does need some cosmetics tho. The proverbial "little old lady" got lots of shopping cart dings. Its also got one cracked taillight, headliner has come unglued, front seat leather is dried up, one wheel has some curb rash, and two star chips in the windshield. I was pleased to find a white one tho because its such a forgiving color and doesn't show the dings so bad. I plan to fix the headliner and taillight right away and mabe let one of those paintless dent repair guys try to work out as many of the door dings as possible.

Could almost be MY CAR
This picture could almost be my car. I purchased a 1999 XJ8 Vanden Plas in White about 4 weeks ago. Mine was owned by a little old lady, but with very few dings and scrapes. Mine was very well looked after, with only a miniscule 32000 miles on the clock, Spent the last 3 week-ends smartening it up, and only have a replacement drivers "Drivers Door Control Module" to fit, to make it all but perfect. As you say, VERY Smooth ride, I love it.
