Just purchased 1997 XK8 with "low" miles (80,000) - always wanted convertible, but reality of life here in northern Idaho made owning a coupe more practical - I can drive it more often. Hoping to be able to keep her running with my own repair work - and maybe help from folks in this forum. Recommendations for first things to update/replace? Other than scheduled maintenance? Thanks

Welcome to the Forums.

I suggest, always, EVERY fluid gets refreshed, thus bringing that part to a known point for you to work from.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums pahphd,

+1 to the fluid changes. Especially transmission fluid which is not included in maintenance schedules but is highly recommended. Also look for threads on tensioners and cooling system. These are the three regular issues to be aware of on the XK8.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northwest-64/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
80,000 miles is just broken in and loosened up for a modern engine. Right in its Prime!
