Newbie in Central Georgia
Hello,
I've read the great items on the forum before, but didn't decide to join until yesterday.
We've got a carnival red 2001 XJ8 Vanden Plas and couldn't be happier with it. We've owned it for 6 yrs now after buying it out of the select pre-owned program in OKC. Gas prices had just spiked over $3/gal after Katrina and none of his big cars were moving.
We've seen most of the standard issues with the 2001 model year: new thermostat, 2 x water pumps (first one was poorly installed by a local mechanic & the dealer replaced it again under warranty); bushings. This is our second Jag. We had a 1990 XJ6 that worked well until it was unfortunately totaled.
I'm not into doing my own repairs, except for bulbs and easy stuff. We've found a good private shop in Macon who does excellent work with reasonable prices. I'm looking forward to keeping this latest Jag as long as we can and continuing to learn from the forums.
Terry
