Greetings and welcome to JF
Great choice of the mighty Jaguar GT. Our gurus Grant, Greg and others over in the XJ-S / XJS sub-forums, have almost limitless knowledge of these beasts on either original 5.3L, HE, and 6.OL forms, either FHC, cabriolet or covertible. Suggest you absorb as much as you can by using the forum search tools . . . then buy the best you can find and afford. Of course, documented service is critical but, in the end, these are 30 or more years old and performance cars to boot, so gear up for a solid maintenance schedule.
Cheers and best wishes,

Ken forgot the important parts:
A sense of humour, the more warped the better.
The ability to speak in tongues when things are not as expected (hide the kids)
Keep the beer fridge FULL, it will help.
Good luck.

Welcome to JF! Mid 90s XJS V12 are pretty rare now. It was a car I sought out a long time ago. Got close, but ended up with a V12 sedan instead (which was a lot cheaper). Still have the XJ12 and still love it. You are near SoCal which could be a good source. Thats where I got mine!
