Newbie Jag Owner - 2003 XJ8
So I've always been a fan of the Jaguar with its distinct lines and elegant sportiness. Was in the market for a car (new to me) and found a 2003 XJ8 that was in pretty good shape. A little cosmetic work to be done, and it seemed mechanically fine. Read a lot of reviews and posts on Jaguarforums.com and it looked like the XJ8's from 2001-2004 are a pretty reliable luxury vehicle.
Long story short, that baby now sits in my driveway and is titled to me.
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions since I like to attempt to perform maintenance and minor repairs with my sons as a learning experience.

Welcome to the forum BengalXJ8,
Congratulations on the XJ8. Is it a late X308 or one of the first X350's?
Sounds like you already know the way to the right tech section so no need for a link.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thank you Graham!
Already taking advantage of the board. I thought it would be prudent to perform some maintanence. Did a nice oil change and went to 100% synthetic, changed all the filters, topped off the fluids, etc. Then I got in a bit deeper. Cleaned the MAFS and TB in accordance with a DIY PDF I found liked from this site, seemed like an innocuous process. But cats are tempermental! My XJ8 (X308 model) didn't like some part of the process (I'm suspecting residual TB cleaner sucked through the intake when I restarted the car).
I posted a question to the forum and I'm sure I'll get some great advice.

I've just been reading your thread in X308 section and am sure you'll get plenty of advice there.
If you want to speed up the reset procedure instead of waiting overnight, check for 'Hard Reset' in the in the XK8/XKR section 'HOW TO' FAQ's. Same engine and a good description of the reset procedure there.
