Welcome to the forum Rob,
You'll get plenty of model specific advice from owner members in both S-Type and XJ sections.
If I can offer some overall recommendation, whichever model you are looking at:
1. check the service history very closely
2. check every switch works
3. make sure both remote fobs and three keys are included
Enjoy the search.

Welcome to the forum,
Good to have you with us.
+1 on Grahams advice, those keys are expensive, look in the S Type section FAQ's also. Make sure the heat gets hot and the ac gets cold, although you may never need it in Montrose. :-)
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Check this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ype-faq-41364/ to the S-Type section where you'll find Buyers Guides and General Info & Common Trouble Spots.
