Default Newjack from Texas

First of all I would like to say hello to all of you on the forum. My name is Bryan and I'm from Boerne, Texas. Now to the meat of it. I just inherited my dads 2001 Jaguar XJ8 this week. The last time it was running 2 years ago it overheated and quit running. Been in the garage under some junk and mom finally let me have it. Bear with me as I ask 800 million questions trying to figure out what the problem might be. If anybody has any insight or a direction i could start checking out please let me know. Thanks in advance!

-Bryan

Welcome to the forum Bryan,

A great gift but a challenge ahead for you. Plenty of advice here to help you get the XJ8 running again.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region section by following this link Southwest US - AZ TX NM OK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Good luck and enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Bryan - follow Graham's link for the technical stuff and good luck - these engines don't like overheating.

Thanks for the warm welcome! As I read more into the problems involved with drastic overheating i am realizing that it might not be worth my time to fix the motor. However, is there a good market out there for the rest of the car? Or even a market for parting it out? Can I do that on here? The vehicle is in great shape other than the motor...

Bryan,

You can advertise in PRIVATE For Sale / Trade Classifieds - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section.

We had a few guys recently in a similar situation with an engine and most have concluded it would take too long to part out.

You aren't going to make a fortune from parts but finding out exactly what's wrong before assuming the worst could just get it running for a lot less than you think.
