Question Newto Forum

I don't have a Jaguar at this time, but I found a 2005 Xtype AWD Wagon. I am worried that this Jaguar was built during Ford's ownership. Am I asking for trouble(125,000 miles) or should I just pass. Cool car,but if it is POS,please let me know. If not, what are weak spots or problem areas. Thank you for any guidance I can get!

Most of the Jaguars on the road today were built by Ford; anything from 1989 to 2008. They should be at least as dependable as Fords, but I'm not a big Ford fan.

Welcome to the forum captingascap,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Ford poured a fortune into Jaguar and the lasting legacy of their ownership is improved build quality. However, with any ten year old/125K miles vehicle (and especially a Jaguar) check history and regular maintenance records. Jaguar ownership is not economy motoring and there will always be owners who either cannot or will not spend the money to keep them right. Find a good one and it will be a pleasure - buy a neglected one and it will be a money pit.

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
