Default "Observe the masses and do the opposite" Bought a Jag.

Hello from the mountains of western North Carolina. I purchased a 2006 XKR in July 2010 which is my first Jaguar. I must admit that owning one of these beasts was not even close to being in my "bucket list" do to a run in with a 1964 xke back in 1971 in which I was trying to change a starter---I swore I would never own one of these things. Well here I am reading the many posts of devoted Jag enthusiasts and fell in love with the xkr when I started looking for a convertible. Thanks to all of you for providing a welcome setting in which to discuss and discover the many ups and downs of Jag ownership.

"Observe the masses and do the opposite" Bought a Jag.

Great attitude! A surprising number of us feel exactly the same way! All the neighbors have Mecedes, Bimmers, Porches and Lexi. Yawn.

Your XKE story rings a bell - My first Jag was a 1993 XJ6 VDP and it could be a real pain in the posterior. My first clue was picking up the Haynes manual and seeing the the first step in replacing the starter was "Remove Transmission". However, it was soooo solid and comfy and always turned heads, so we loved it. Replaced it with a 2005 XJ8L, then got myself a 2006 XK8. Ya might say I'm hooked.

Welcome aboard!

Right on! Yeah, part of the fun in Jag ownership is not seeing another one at every 4-way intersection. :-)

Cheers

Thanks to all---with the snow and cold weather the cat is snug in her lair with batttery charger on and stabil in the fuel tank. Haven't driven her since Christmas eve. Hoping for some warmer weather this weekend and we can let it loose.
