Rear back up light
I was at the Jaguar dealer this week as my rear drivers side rear back up light was not illuminating. I was informed that only the passenger side back up light illuminates when in reverse on a 2009 XK. This seems odd to me; I never heard of this before. Is this unique to the X150? Is this a British or European automobile safety rule?
The only thing I can think is that with both back up lights on, at night it may appear to others as the front end of a car approaching. Making it's a safety issue.
or was the Jaguar dealer mistaken?
Reminds me of the rear Porsche fog light which only illuminates brighter on one side so as not to be mistaken as brake lights. I thought i had a burnt out brake light until I was informed it's only on one side. (This option isn't available on an American made car).
Any comments are welcome.

Hello,
I can't think of a single situation where I would want only ONE backup light. Not even one!
If a dealer told me that, I would Certainly think the person's knowledge was incomplete at best, and then I would get another opinion - Like these forums for example.

Early XK's had one reversing light and one rear fog light. Later ones are paired.
