Default Restoring my 91 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign 4.0L

Hi I just bought a 91 Jaguar XJ6 and have very little clue as to where I start when fixing it up. I want to completely restore it as much as possible are there any good site where I can go to buy engine/electrical parts? I do all my own mechanics, worked on planes before so would hope a Jaguar can’t be to complicated. Been doing as much research as I can but also thought I’d take to a forum and see if I can get any good feed back. Also what type of fluids to use seeing as most fluids they used back then aren’t made the same anymore. All help is appreciated

Welcome to the forum OldJagYoungGuy,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

That very much depends on your Location. We don't ask for anything more detailed than City/State but Jaguar specifications vary across World markets and an answer that is correct for a UK specification vehicle can be very misleading for a US one.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

Graham has covered my first ask, where you at.

I always have a plan, and a very flexible plan, and work to that plan and try and stay methodical about it.

Its a Jag, it will be fun, but the satisfaction will also be priceless.
