Default Should I buy an XF?

Considering buying a 2013 XF 3.0 AWD. with 33K miles for $35K. It would be my primary vehicle and I'll probably drive about 15K miles per year in Cincinnati. I am told jags are a mechanical nightmare but I'm thinking this is not entirely true. The XF is the only car that turns me on but I don't want mechanical issues and need reliability. Am I crazy or is this car a good fit? Thanks!

Hello, Larry,
*Most* Jaguars that turn into Mechanical Nightmares have been neglected and ignored when they first cried out for help and attention. As with any car, those items began to stack up until the layers are so deep the owners throw up their hands in disgust and labels the ignored and neglected car a Mechanical Nightmare.

This scenario is true of any brand of car/truck but in decades past Jaguar had valid reliability issues. Since the car you're considering is two generations past that time you might not have those worries.

Ask over in our XF section. Ask specific questions and you'll get specific answers.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Larryguy,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The old reputation for unreliability from the 1970's still haunts Jaguar. However, they are vehicles which do require careful maintenance. A well cared for example is a pleasure to own and drive but a neglected one will be a money pit.

Hello & welcome. I don't see why a modern XF should cause you any more problems than any other " Modern " car.
