Default Sunny San Diego X-Type!

Greetings,

Purchased a 2002 X-Type 2.5 with a Manual 5 speed with 112K Miles over the weekend. It is dark green (no metal flake) with Almond interior. Car was originally purchased in Tennessee. I am the 3rd owner. This car to replace my beloved 1998 Volvo S90 that I ran up to 255K Miles. Part of the deal included a tint job to the back windows. This is important for a dark car in San Diego.

I consider myself a good judge of vehicle stock. Motor purrs, could not hear any vacuum leaks on the intake. No leaks down below. Not an automatic, so not worried about neglect to the transmission. My OBDII scanner battery quit on me, so I couldn't get a good scan. Had two issues sneak by me, that I found after all the paperwork was done.
1. Since you start the car, and briefly check that the radio works, then switch it off during test drive, I neglected to notice that the driver side speakers were not working. Planning to pull one of the speakers to check it out...

2. The AC... Oh lord the AC... Did I mention I live in San Diego, and we are in a drought?!!! So I start the car, and AC works until car is warm (I'm sure this is how I missed it), then shuts off... Then comes back on in about 8 minutes. Then continues cycling on the 5 minutes. At any time, I can switch the car off, and turn it back on, and AC returns with a vengeance... for 5 minutes. I have tried to adjust the temp up and down, and switching the AC off and back on. This does not restore it. Since I am getting solid AC for periods of time, I do not suspect the compressor, or the refrigerant. My old Volvo would cycle on and off within 5 seconds when the refrigerant was low... So I have ordered a new AC relay from Pep Boys for $12. Seems like an easy place to start.

3. Once my OBDII scanner was recharged, I checked for codes... None. I checked for "Pre codes"... OOoops! P1000!!!??? I was relieved to read that this is a code that is thrown when the ECM is reset. that should go away within the week.

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. Looking forward to adjusting to an Anglo mindset.
