Hi everyone and thanks for your combined knowledge that has helped me to buy my first Jaguar!
Just before Christmas my Mondeo passed 155000 miles and bits started to drop off and fail so I needed to replace it.
I started looking at the "sensible" options, you know, another Mundaneo, Volvo's, Skoda Estates etc but nothing floated my boat really and the money I wanted to spend wouldn't get me much. However I kept being offered X Types in my internet Autotrader searches.
I read the forums and everything else I could find, and apart from the transfer case issue I couldn't find a good reason not to try the Jaguar.
I had a look at a few 02s at 2nd hand car yards but they had deep scores to the brakes, high miles etc. Unbelievably, the worst I saw was an approved car at my local ***********! It looked good in BRG and had more than 60000 mileson the clock. When the salesman drove it out for a test run there was an horrendous knocking from the suspension on full lock and needed to be put into 2nd gear before 1st would have it! They wanted 5995 GBP for this!!!
To be honest though, I only drove this as a comparison because I had found an 04 for 4885 GBP, with 3 main dealer stamps and just under 34000 miles on it. So, cutting this growing story shorter, (
) I traded my faithful, reliable, economical old Mundaneo for this Ultraviolet 04MY X Type with lots of toys (that all work at the mo).
I'm experiencing the paranoia that forces me to switch off the radio so I can try and work out whether the ever so slight whirring I hear at 70mph (sometimes) is the transfer box, the driveshaft or just the noise AWD gears make.
I'm also a tiny bit bothered about the (again, negligable) driveline backlash I think I detect if I'm careless with the clutch.
However, the biggest problem I have is how do I get rid of the stupid grin that is always on my face whenever I am behind the wheel of this stunning car?

Crank up the tunes and enjoy. Don't forget to do the "jag-around". That's the turn around andadmire, it every time you walk away after parking it, move.
Welcome to the forum, as a New Jag owner myself all I can say is after 2 months I still park out as far as possible so no one parks near it. I also love the looks that I get when I feel the urge to push the pedal down and start passing people.
