Default Take my GT... Please...

First.. forgive me for the Henny Youngman reference. Just for laughs, no intention on getting rid of this growler.

Hello gents, Long time listener, first time caller.

The jag in question is a 2012 XK 5.0. 42k on the clocks.

It was the father in-law's car who passed away almost two years ago now. Damn, was he proud of his car. Whispered to me once that he got pinched for doing 130 coming back from Palm Desert. He was in his 80s. :-) I've been the custodian of this killer automobile since. I'm an old gear-head but this thing is on another level.

He used to have trouble with the battery being charged fully as this car seems to really sap the juice. So much so that he carried two of those jump-charger battery gizmos. I did the "HARD RESET" or whatever it's called, and now things seem to be quite different,... ie. charging to 13.6 or 13.7 steady, whereas before I would see low 12s and the occasional spike into the 13s. It's holding 12.7 for quite a while, as before it would drop to 12.1 almost immediately upon return from a journey. I would like to see more like 14+ charging but I'll take the improvement. BTW I did a real load test and the battery passed with flying colors.

I have it on a smart Battery Tender which keeps it at 13.0.

It needs an oil change pretty soon. It doesn't get driven much but I want to keep the fluids good - The spec still needs ferreting out so if anyone wants to input that stuff feel free.

I really appreciate the fact that this community exists because dufuses like me need the support. I read about members having issues and you guys come to the fore every time and offer excellent help. Commendable for sure.

It lives in Anacortes, so if you see me up there honk and wave. It seems to elicit good vibes wherever it goes, I'm thinking because it's F'N gorgeous.

Toodles for now. Thanks for any responses. Catch you on the flip side.

Welcome to the Forums.

I read the header and thought it was referring to a "real Jag" as in the XJS V12, never mind, that beast of yours is almost as awesome.

Battery is the most common issue, as in age and integrity. 4 years appears to be change out point.
Good lcuk.

Thanks for the kind words. Yah the FIL was a character for sure.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that, besides cars my other passion is motorcycles and following motorcycle racing (Isle of Man, MotoGP, British Superbikes, MotoAmerica, World Superbikes, etc.) I've got a bunch of bikes and love to rebuild and work on cafe projects and such. Anyhoo....
