Default Test Drove and now really thinking about it.

Hello,
I just finished a test drive in a 2001 Jaguar S-type 4.0. I think I will be buying it. Just wondering if there are any things that I should look for.
Shifts great. Had a tick at cold start up. But I think synthetic oil will take care of that.

Hope you guys can help me out. I look forward to being part of the forum community.

Thanks, Shane

Welcome to the forum.

Head over to the S Type section, the guys will advise.

Good to see you.

PS, my daughter spent last Summer up your way, was very impressed with the area.

We also have another member in Sarnia, check into the regional section.

Welcome to the forum,

Good to have you with us.
You should ask questions about the tensioners, a quick serch should give you a
shed load of info.

You should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

+1 to Norri and Translator's advice.

Come on Shane - it's over six hours since you started thinking about the S-Type. It should be on your drive by now.

Hope it checks out OK.

Graham

Try a 2003 or later 4.2L S-type before you make the decision. It has many improvements...more power you will feel and considerably better gas mileage. A far better car iMHO.

Hi Shane,

Welcome to the site from a fellow Canadian. The S-types are great cars and as Norri says- look into the subject of chain tensioners to make sure they have been serviced properly.

Welcome burgess....time to stop thinking and start doing.
You'll be glad you did.
As previously stated, just hop on over to the S-Type section and make yourself at home..

Thanks guys,
Are the tensioners difficult to do? The car also has extensive service records with it. I will get some pictures up soon.
