Default Unresponsive locked trunk

Hello everyone. My name is Gary. Recently purchased a 2000 Jaguar XJ8. At first I thought it was a deal of a lifetime. I got this as a garageman’s lean. Only came with a green key. Drove the car home. Valet message displayed on the dash. Found out the trunk does not open. I’ve tried pressing the interior trunk release button. Went to the dealer bought a black key tried opening the trunk with key. Still same issue. The car now has a dead battery. Heater hose ruptured on me. Again to the dealer I went and ordered one. Which I now installed. Ordered a keyless entry remote from amazon. Tried the programming steps with no success. I’m running out of steam and hopes for this vehicle which I actually really liked from the moment I was offered it. Please help is their anyway to open the trunk? Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you Elinor. I already purchased the key from the dealership. It unlocks my doors and turns the ignition on, but doesn’t open the trunk.
