Default Wind and rain in my face.

Back problems forced me to sell my Harley last month. In search of a new ride I started looking at Jaguar XK8 models. I preferred a coupe but found a 2000 convertible with only 26500 miles, a real garage queen. The price was fair and I needed a retirement gift anyway – so I bought it.

Since I live in Oregon, when the rain stops I’ll be able to enjoy the wind in my face again, only this time without wearing a helmet.

Looking at the forums I am impressed with the wide breadth of knowledge the members have. Since I am very comfortable with turning a wrench, I know I’ll be doing many projects myself.

My first research needs to be finding out about low mileage XK8 models that are 10+ years old. Since I have found nothing wrong or broken on the car, my priority will be finding the most important items for preventative maintenance.

This should be fun.

welcome Radar!
I had similar reasons for getting a convertible rather than a motorcycle, so I understand where you're coming from!

Welcome to the forum Radar,

Nice retirement gift, remember you still have to suck the air in through your teeth to filter the bugs!

welcome aboard radar, good to have you here.
You're in for a treat in the XK section.
You might look at the tensioners at some point in the future although you do have a very low mileage example.....
Pics would be good?????

You might find the off topic good for fun, maybe check out the mug shot thread and add yours?
Some really good guys and great techs, top vendors offering good pricing levels and great service, and more to come....all good

In the meantime I've upgraded you manually to full forum access so you can better view the site

Radar, welcome to the forum. From a Harley to a Jag, me too, doesn't get any better than that! Like your thoughts on preventive maintenance, best of luck with your new XK8 and have fun here.

Thanks for the full forum access. The tensioners and hydraulics for the top seem to be the items I should look at first - both have big dollar consequences if not dealt with.
