I already changed the sparks (where champion and changed to Ngk without any improvement).

Hi Patrick

Go to the "X300" section. There are some recent topics regarding idling problems.

The raw fuel smell might be due to a misfire. Or it might be excessive fuel pressure or a number of other things.

Were the old spark plugs black with carbon?

Cheers
DD

Glad you found us, Patrick. Seems almost as many causes of poor idle as there are x300's exhibiting the issue.
Must Bea springtime thing. Plenty of help and answers in the x300 section.

patrick, did you see the post on xj6 spark plugs update, when back to oem's champions i just did a tune and use want the owner manual told me to use, runs great, but i changed other thing too like egr valve( be sure you clean all the carbon out of the 2 holes, plus i change all plug boots couple of mine were cracked ( possible arcing) I also change the 2 forward O2 sensors, backs will be a chanellge. fuel smell: check sending unit in trunk, after yrs of gas plastic fails, if u see gas dripping down ,and then into the trunk, might be your smell was mine, easy to install, just loosen lock ring install new, you have a few choices as to where you want to spend your monies.

Thank you aswell Genoaz! Today I was at the emissioncontrol and lambda was all in red ....can be a lot of things...lambda sensor...leak in the excaust system...catalysator was working fine...and also one cilinder was not doing the job it has to do,therefore the bad idle running...also now I heard during the test that also when the motor was running faster that one cilinder is not working well...so I suppose this might be one bad coil? and then we are again where to buy for a reasonable price in Europe parts?Perhaps a european member can answer me on that item?

regards,

Patrick

Welcome. I bought a 96 xj6 4.0 with 89,000 miles about a year ago and after around a month I had rough idle problem and could smell cat converter strongly. Replaced 1 coil pack and all's been well since.

Hi Jack,Thank you fo your reply, I have ordered two coils so we´ll see what it brings, would be nice if the problem was solved just by changing the coil.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

We found if you post from a remote device (i-phone, Droid) it will not show in the post. Often people ask for help but fail to tell us the cars information and we are unable to provide the right feedback.
