Default Xj 40 VDP from Russia

Hello! My name is Yari. I live betwеen Russia & Finland.
There is my first Jag.
I both it in july 2012 and drive until autum. I don't drive it at winter, because we have a lot of salt on the roads in Russia(and drunk bears too))))
At winter i little bit painted it and repaired in my garage in Finland.

Welcome to the forum Yari,

Your XJ40 looks in very good condition and a great colour combination.

Follow this link XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

I see you've already found the 'Other Area' Region section. Watch out for those bears!

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Yari,

You should start a thread in XJ40 section for all your repair photos and information so members with the same model can see what you've done.

Do you want me to move your post #8 to XJ40 section as a new thread?

Yari,

I've put your new thread in XJ40 section. Follow this link:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-russia-90450/

As the XJ40 is one of the Jaguars I've owned before, I'll be interested to follow your restoration work.

Privet, Yari --

It appears you have an American-market Jaguar -- in Russia! The motorized shoulder belts in front are tell-tale. It is difficult to imagine that Jaguar would have installed those in any European-market vehicle. (The motorized belts were required for a few years as "passive restraints" in the United States if the car did not have SRS airbags. A non-motorized belt attached to the door with extra reinforcement and interlocking to the B-pillar like VW used would have worked, but that was an even worse way to meet that bad regulation.) Also the "Vanden Plas" trim. Unless I am mistaken, the Vanden Plas trim was not named as such in Europe. this model would have been a Daimler, or maybe Jaguar on the continent, probably the Sovereign trim. The fluted grille is a Daimler trade dress/guise. Sure looks like a U.S.-market Vanden Plas. The quad round headlights were also used in early U.S.-market XJ40s (though yours had at least been replaced with European-specification lamps).

So, it appears your car has traveled from England where it was made, to the United States, and then to Russia or Finland!

Enjoy your cat, and good luck keeping her on the road where parts and service must be hard to come by.

HI! It came from Califirnia in the second half of the 90's. This belts was required in US? I didn't knew it!
My rectangulars US-market headlights now are in trunk. I set rounds myself
for a season. I don't know which i like more)))
I heard what VPD buyer could choose round/rectangular headlights. Is it correct? Are you know?
I'm fanatic of original guise!)))
Thanks!
