Hi guys, Always had a Jag mostly the xj 6 series, my brother had a number of them so i always enjoyed working on them, that is until I bought a 2001 xj 8. No workshop manuals and a rough running engine and here we are!

I let the gas fall below quarter tank, and the car parked on an angle the engine went into a rough running idle. I checked the fuel cap water bypass filter and it was unclogged. The engine won't accelerate beyond idle and engine codes are P1316, p 1111, and misfire on all 8 cylinders. I think fuel contamination is the problem. But I'm open to all ideas

Welcome nick! We've got you in the New Member area right now, so you'll most likely get some 'Hi there's' and 'congrats on the car' posts. If you want the meat and potatos for diagnostics, your best bet it is to hop over to the xj9 & xjr area (there are several different sub-forums for the xjs, so watch that) and describe in detail your symptoms and theh conditions in which it occurred. Don't forget, keep your year and model in your sig...or be destined to repeat it in all of your future posts...because if you don't, your first two or three replies will be 'What year and model is your car'? trust me on this one.

Again, welcome and enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum Nick,

Good advice from h20boy, head over to the XJ8 section and see what the gurus think.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
