xj6 cam shaft on 2.9 1988
Hi I'm new to jags, usually mess with v8 landrover discoverys . bought a xj6 for £100 ($200) but the engine has thrown a cam follower through side of tappet block, needs a replacement top end now. not used to oh cams. I know i need a timing tool, but is the tensioner hard to release on this engine and do I need the right tool (jd101) or will any hook do?

Hope someone can be some help man, I don't know too much about building engines or fixing them too much
What year is your xj6? Cuz maintanance varies alot from the different era's of the car
