Hello all

new to the forum and thought I would introduce myself.
I am in the automotive industry in the Detroit area and a car nut.
We have a 97 and a 98 XK8 - and just had my first mechanical failure (idler pulley disintegrated - but only an hour to fix)

Many years ago I worked at Jaguar in Coventry and since have wanted to own one...well now two I guess!

We offset our carbon footprint (the two XKs) with two Austin Minis...yes..I know, I just can't help myself with British cars!

I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about these beasts (and help a little if I can)

 

Welcome to the site. If their new Minis I would doubt you're offsetting much in the way of a carbon footprint. They seem to eat spares with quite a large appetite from what friends have told me.

 

No, they are "real" minis...10 ft long, 10" tires and whopping 998cc engines.

 

I figued as such since you included Austin in there not just "Mini". Which brings up a good question. If you polled current "Mini" owners about who made the original, how many would get the answer right. I'd suspect that you would get more who said it was Cooper or BMW over Austin.
