Cool xk8 starting problem after replacing an ignition coil

well have a bit of a problem with my xk8(x100)1996
message came up engine fault/poor engine performance it was running on 7 cylinders so my immediate thought was a coil which it turned out to be the only problem now is its hard to initially start as once you get it going its fine
it seems to be if you leave it unstarted overnight say it takes a long long time to start and sometimes i just give up and come back to it later in the day and it starts just fine i thought outdoor temperature may be something to do with it at first but it wouldnt start this morning so i left it at home got home 12 hours later and on a cold day and it started as it should
anyone have any thoughts please

Have you had any codes scanned? If you haven't a scanner there are fairly decent ones out there now that don't cost the earth.
