Bandit's 85 Capri

Nice example. Love the Capri. A guy around where I live took one and restored it. Then decided to plant a Cosworth engine into it. The thing sounds amazing and looks epic. slightest little throttle and away goes the back end. I would love to own one. Just to damn expensive to pick a not bad condition one up.

Wow, do these pictures of the Capri bring back memories. My second car was a brand new 1973 brown Capri, 4 or 5 speed (I can't remember). Ford imported them for 2 years, 1973-1974, but the 1974 had the hideous big bumpers required by US 5 mph regulations. It had a very peppy 2.6L v-6 at the time (2.8L in 1974) What a fun car that was, a sort of cheaper BMW 2002. I see by the photos that the body style remained essentially unchanged for at least 12 years. I drove that car throughout college.

Thank you for posting this! My fist car was a 1976 Capri II Ghia with the 2.8 V6. I still miss that car! It was silver with a black interior, lowered, had a custom exhaust and an awesome Blaukpunt stereo, complete with the very early 80s 5 band eq (with analog meters on a flexible stalk) anyone remember those?
I wish I could find a decent one in the U.S. I believe Hagerty collector car insurance even lists it as almost endangered here.

Lovely Lacquer Red 2.8 mate. Top notch.
I've had mk3 1.6GL, mk3 1.6 blue/silver Calypso, 2.8i Special Nimbus Grey, 2.8i Special Rosso Red (E reg), 2.8i Special Diamond White, 280 Brooklands, 2.0 Laser (was my daily). I am presently the proud keeper of a 1972 mk1 1600XL timewarp with 56k genuine miles. Its my fathers but now passed to me for safe keeping until my son has it one day but he is just 10 yrs old at the moment so i have it for a while yet. To good to mess with and a lovely piece of 70's nostalgia for the summer.
