Default Maserati Quattroporte

Hello, I'm looking at purchasing a 2006 or 2007 Maserati Quattroporte within a few months...it's a WANT not a need...which 21 year old needs a Maserati right lol ? (me)

From my research they run around $22-25k with 30-50k miles. I would buy it cash instead of selling my 05 S-Type or trade in+cash...I believe I would be able to afford maintaince and surprises as I save 90% if not more of my $5k+ monthly income.

My main question is if anyone knows the common issues with these vehicles. I ask here because I know some forum members are Maserati Quattroporte owners and I hope they see this post...or previous owners !

I could get a nice BMW, Mercedes, Audi within the price range but I like to stand out from the crowd...Plus the Maserati is the sexiest out of all ! I haven't seen many Maserati's in the past 5 years...maybe 5 ? I've probably seen more BMW's, Mercedes, & Audi's than Fords lol

Thanks for reading

I doubt the most reliable Maserati is half way as reliable as the least reliable MB ever made .I remember reading a message thru one of MB Forums and one member said whose friend owned a Quattroporte and according to his post his friend hated that Quattroporte and preferred driving his BMW 7 Series

So did you end up buying a Quattroporte OP? Maseratis are not as rare as they once were. I see one almost everyday around here. Still very sexy cars.

I still have not...still looking for the perfect vehicle (for me of course)
I know I said I didn't want to get a BMW/Merc but I've always had a little love for the BMW 6 Series, & the long but sexy Merc CLS class..So I've added a 09 CLS 63 AMG, or 2009 BMW 650i to my list of wants...Doing research on all vehicles currently.

A few years ago, before I purchased my 2012 XJL, I was shopping for a used 2005-2010 QP and did some research on the Maserati Life forum. I found that there was a lot of controversy concerning the Duo Select transmission that was initially installed on the older QPs. Some of the QP owners were fine with it and some absolutely hated it. There also apparently is a big maintenance cost to those transmissions, so keep that in mind. The transmission was changed in either 2007 or 2008 and I decided that I wasn't going to buy anything older than that. As I noted above, however, it became a moot issue for me because I ended up going with a new XJL instead (although I did just purchase a 2005 Maserati Coupe to go along with the XJL).

I'm currently in the process of buying an 2007 Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT (Automatic Transmission) within a few days...Will be going to the Maserati/Bentley dealership sometime early this upcoming week for a final PPI...it unfortunaly isn't in that $22k-$25k range I said....$37k LOL...All maintenance/service was done at the dealership and was garaged in the winter time...has 25K miles...hopefully all goes well so I can post photos of one the sexiest cars ever made
