American here in Tokyo. I just picked up a 2001 Xj8 Executive last week (needed a slushbox car for the wife to drive), so I'm pretty new. If you guys have any shop recommendations/places to pick up parts, etc I'm all ears. Or if you would like to meet up sometime mail me at mbitker@gmail.com

Hi, I'm Japanese living in OKayama. I often go to Kobe to participate in an off event. Just have a check this site, Lawrence. It is my friend's website. You might have already known it though.

Hello All of you good people in Japan. I have just gotten a Jag from Japan. All the major documents are in Japanese. May I request one of you to help with translation?

I can scan them and send them over as pdfs or jpegs. Will be grateful.

Default VIC and TV

Hi all, have an imported XKR from Japan. Anyone know how the VIC and TV system works? Its a 2001 running the alpine GPS system. Also - do you know if there is an option anywhere to turn the language to English? Finally, does anyone have an owners manual that includes the VIC and TV system? Don't care what language.
Thanks from me.

hello Akka,

The documents I've once lightly translated are nothing to do with the manual. it was more like the insurance and service history so wont be any use to anyone else.

As for the VIC and TV, I have no idea how they operate..If you are stuck due to unable to read the screen then I can help you.

The complete Vehicle Literature Packs (owners manuals) for the XK8/XKR from 1997-2006 are available for download in PDF from:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...006-faq-67827/

The UK RHD documents should be the relevant choice for your vehicle.

Why would the UK, LHD documents be right for a Japanese Jag?
The Japanese drive on the left the same as the UK.

Well spotted Andrew - and now corrected.

Japan and New Zealand drive on the left, the same as us.

Hi Graham,

I have been through these with no sign, that i could find, of the VIC or TV units other than in the wiring diagram... do you recall seeing any references?

Thanks.

Hello.

I post especially here to reach out to some Japanese Jag owners, with a request I normally should not even consider to do.

I am living and have my XJ8 in Taiwan.
Through my Italian friend, working for the Italian consulate in Osaka, I bought very nice 18" XJR rims from Yahoo JP, which are now waiting for transport at his house.
He also bought Jamex 40mm lowering springs, but was called last night that they were sold out, and that they can't be delivered any more. He is waiting for the refund.

If I Google or Bing for X300 or X308 and Jamex, I end up at many Japanese sites.
Some are blogs or owner reports on Jamex, but others seem to be sales or auction sites.
I even see one with pictures of the springs packed in a box, like they are ready for shipment.

Now my problem is that my Italian friend is limited in the Japanese language, and I do not want him to bother his consulate ppl. too much, after all this is a private matter.

Therefore, is there anyone out on this Forum, living in Japan, and willing to help me, to see if these springs are still somewhere available by doing a bit of investigation?
If so, I will surely buy them, either with your help, or though my friend.
I am good for my money, and surely willing to pay a fee if necessary for the help.

Looking forward to any positive reply, in which case I can share details and the sites I found so far!

Eric Jansen
