I had a X Type before, scrap it this year Jan and bought another. Can you imagine my car going into the workshop 3 times in 2 months? First 2 times are alternator. Before i purchase the car, i asked about alternator failure as I had one failure in my previous X type after 1 month of usage (My first X Type is a 9 year old). He assured me that the alternator is new as they recently change it. Drove it one month and alternator fails, drove it to their workshop and renew another "new" one as they assured me is new. Drove it one week and it fails again. Drove the car to another workshop, they informed that both alternators are recon and not new. Eventually they repair the alternator for me. After repair, car becomes sluggish, super high fuel consumption and doesn't want to accelerate even when i depress till 5k rpm. The car went in for almost 2 weeks. They keep insisting car is ok after plug in to check. I went to collect car and true enough, car back to normal. I was suspecting the torque converter to fail or maybe gearbox to fail. What likely thing they did although they insist nothing is done.

 

Is not it? indeed it is a bad thing. I also have problems with my Jaguar X-Type that I have, but it seems the problem is not too bad, but I still have not found what the problem was.
