Default Chrome on the 2004 XJR

I just got the car and had the accessories before it got here.Chrome mirrors, pillars, rear Jaguar emblem(the long chrome on the trunk),light surrounds(not on yet),and rocker panel(not on yet).I'm looking at XJ8 grille surrounds and the bumper mesh.I really don't care if everyone thinks it's an XJ8......they will know when I hit the gas.God ....this car is a lot of fun so far.I am so glad I didn't go for the Lexus LS.I'll post more photos when I get the rocker panel stick on stainless on.I don't think I'll go any farther with the chrome. It may get to be a little too much.So far I think it's fine.If anyone has photos of chrome on the rockers....I'd love to see them. Take care and Merry Christmas.........Dave

Where did you purchase the chrome items and did you install them yourself?

I got the parts from Mina Gallery. They were cheaper on e-bay except the super charged license holder(that was cheaper direct)I have rocker panel polished stainless steel coming from Car ID. Take care,Dave

Default Install

I put them on.......super easy.Just make sure of the position before you peal off the plastic covering the tape(back). You don't get second tries....the tape sticks very well.Keep the protective plastic(Front) on until your finished. That keeps from smudging the chrome.Good luck,Dave

Great information. Thanks. I'm curious why you got certain parts from Mina and others from Carid. I'm concerned about fit and I won't be happy unless it's perfect. Were the items you got a perfect fit?

Default Chrome

The fit was perfect.Mina did not carry the rocker panel stainless steel for my model year.I just got the rocker panel covers today.I should have them on by this weekend and I'll post some more photos. The mirror covers were abs plastic.Made in Taiwan stamped in the back. The price was cheaper buying a set(Mirror covers, fog light surrounds, head light surrounds). You could probably get the same thing from China only much cheaper.Take care, dave

Here is a photo showing the pillars and the mirror.I do not have the rockers on yet.I think the chrome looks much better than the black pillars or the silver(car color) mirrors.

Ok, so confirm you got the chrome pillars and the side view mirror covers from "Mina Gallery"?

I just priced them there and they run $124.95. At Carid they are $59.50.

So I'm not sure where to go at this point. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

I think the ones from mina gallery was triple chrome plated over stainless and carid was polished stainless. You can google all the differences between them and choose which you prefer.Take care, dave
I just checked for my model ....at carid the pillars are 65 and the lights are 91......$156 for the 2004 xj
Mina wanted 195 for headlight ...fog light and mirrors.Chrome pillars are higher at $100

Be interesting to see how the rocker covers hold up over time.

Maybe a set of mud flaps to help protect them?

Nice looking car BTW.
