Default Picture composition ideas

Just came back from another mini road trip through North and Central Texas - and I thought of taking some pictures with different compositions. One of my favorite is finding ghost signs and old historic buildings. I thought I'd take some - not showing the full car profile but use the unique car attributes - yet at the same time show the object in a different way.

These 2 were taken at Hico, TX of a ghost sign. One is a normal shot with the car in a side profile, the other is a reflection of the sign near the hood louvre. I thought of taking the reflection of the bonnet badge - but I forgot to carry wipe cloths - so many dead bugs near it.

Nice idea Bob, is it my eye (correct grammar) or is the car slightly out compared with the wall. Resolution, shake? Dunno.

Love the subject matter, this one is hilarious, but still could have a sentimental link to the Jag.

Post up more of your ghost sign collection, as you can imagine here on mainland Europe and the UK very few buildings survived.

looks like a little oversharp'eed. Happens trying to get that wall to have some definition. To compensate, circle the car with the lasso tool, with some significant feathering, then reverse the selection (making the car NOT susceptible to the next command) then sharpen.

I do like your idea though, great backdrop for the car!

My only complaint about the pic is the wooden pole. Having that much dark contrasted against the light colored wall draws my eye right to it....that and the door. I would almost clone stamp those two out of the picture to see what it would look like. Love the old wall style billboard though.

Here's a couple of more - not really ghost signs, but mural, one at Giddings, TX and the other at Bertram, TX. Need a sturdier tripod for the night shot ....

hmmm i like the first image. If you use a polarizer which is must for any photograpgher will really aid int eh car photos.

Great pictures though and if your editing slight bump the contrast, or exposure levels...but thats just me.

Great composition and nice car. I too love finding these old ghost signs, from a time when signs were more permanent and the messages were more personal.
