Thumbs up ♥Gorgeous Beauty! Lovingly Maintained 1988 Jaguar XJ40 VDP, 70k Miles

I have posted the body of my Craigslist ad below the "Additional Info". I think you will enjoy my creative weaving with words!

Additional Info:
  • The car just received new brakes and has been driven under 50 miles since.
  • All four tires are new with low mileage on them!
  • A/C needs refreshing, she needs some Freon
  • NO visible rock dings or mars to paint, NO rust
  • The car has NEVER been in accident!
  • Never been smoked in!

This is my Mom's car and she IS a perfectionist! She is someone who freaks out if there is a crumb in the middle of the kitchen floor and must pick it up. She maintained her Jaguar with the same fervent perfectionism and attention to detail. The car was always hand washed (never run through a car wash, lest it get a mark in the paint). The car was always dusted and wiped down with a Kozak Auto Dry Wash cloth after each outing and in between wet washes. The inside was vacuumed constantly, leather rubbed down and spotlessly maintained. If any kids or people in shorts rode in the car - they sat on towels! I think you get the idea... Maintenance was done at local Jaguar dealerships, all records are present. IF a repair needed doing, it was done. If an issue needed addressing it was handled.

This car rides magnificently, a delicious luxurious ride that is comfy and cushioned with a good feel of the road.

Mom is finally letting go of the car because it is uncomfortable for her to drive (back surgery and severely arthritic knees) and she doesn't have good visibility out of it anymore due to significant height loss from aging and the back surgery. Trust me, this was a tough decision for her to make.

Whomever gets this car is getting a car that has been beloved and a member of the family, a car that lounged in a heated garage and underneath a car cover inside that garage for much of it's life.

NOTE: The interior image is not our car, it is an interior of a 1988 Vanden Plas for those who want reminding on what it looks like. My brother has the car currently to show it and take people on test drives and he keeps it covered up. I have been hounding him to take an interior shot, but he has been too busy with work projects. Our car's interior looks better! Our Jag's floor is a luscious light brown caramel-mocha and has all four original Jaguar carpeted mats in the car which also have been impeccably maintained like new.

This car is a GEM inside and out! Anyone whose ever seen the car remarks that it looks like it was just driven off the dealership floor!

Here's my ad, enjoy my colorful prose!

This magnificent Golden Brown Metallic 1988 Jaguar XJ40 Vanden Plas is a true classic; a fully British built Jaguar with stunning interior Vanden Plas custom coachwork of matched Burled Walnut.

The Vanden Plas is Jaguar's most luxurious variant and this is your opportunity to own and cherish this stunning classic vehicle!

This sweet car has been lovingly cared for and cherished by my mother. She has been meticulously maintained and is in mint-like-new condition both inside and out.

The car has always been garaged, was never driven in bad weather, hand washed and wiped down after every drive. This magnificent car wears it's original factory paint and truly looks showroom new! Her chrome accents and appointments gleam and glint like brand new! And the buttery soft leather seats still smell new! (<-true!)

She has traveled only 77,000 miles in her life and is as spry as she was in 1988! She handles beautifully and lovingly responds to a gentle touch. (She rides like a dream and is a joy to drive!)

She is gorgeously appointed with:
  • Comfy Heated Leather Seats,
  • Impact absorbing burled walnut dashboard fascia,
  • Console and door inserts with matchwood inlays,
  • An Automatic Sun Roof,
  • Tinted glass,
  • Air Conditioning,
  • Electric Windows,
  • Central Door Locking,
  • Central locking switches for doors, trunk and windows,
  • Electrically adjustable door mirrors,
  • Recessed instrumentation including speedometer with trip odometer & electric tachometer,
  • Cruise control master "on/off" and "resume" switch,
  • Trip Computer with U.S. or metric digital display of elapsed time, distance
  • and average speed,
  • Automatic transmission, <br>Power steering,
  • Power brakes,
  • Fuel injection
And more....

This gorgeous Jag radiates luxury at every angle and is truly a rare treasure due to the love she has received over the years!

We are asking $6000 for this stunning luxury vehicle, she is truly a 'must see' and experience. The car currently resides in Stamford,CT, all serious inquiries are welcomed!

She does look gorgeous and well maintained according to your post.......sounds like a Jag lovers dream.

I do hope it goes to an owner that will love and care for here the way your mother did.

I've edited your post to include pics in the body.....

Good luck with the sale

This is a crazy week! I just got sorted out on what day it is! As it is 5:45 am here and I've not been to sleep yet, I won't be on too long. I did want to make sure I am not missing any questions or replies about our gorgeous like-showroom-new Jag.

If you or anyone you know wants to know more... post away!

I had to use this smilie! Everytime I see it I hear that song "the Sultan of Swing" playing in my head. Of course I only know that one line....

Default Actual picture of the interior?

How about some pics of the actual interior of the car?

The pic in the listing is from an earlier jag, not this one.......

I will work on that. The car is with my brother since he's the one showing it. The car is covered so he can't just go down and snap pics, he has to uncover and recover the car. He works a lot, is on call odd hours and it's tough to get him to do anything that is not essential. I will bring it up and give it a shot.

The interior looks very much like this pic, except the floor carpet is more of a cappuccino color. This pic is supposed to be an '88, I'm surprised you say it's earlier.
