Maf plug wiring XJ8 3.2 2000 PLEASE HELP!!

Maf plug wiring XJ8 3.2 2000 PLEASE HELP!!
How do I describe this 
Right the car is in limp mode with performance restriction light on after my husband was checking air filter & all the wires ripped out of the plug that goes in the MAF. (bear with me I am a novice girly). He soldered new ends on them all & put them back copying a wiring diagram we got from here but after going to local garage to get fault codes cleared still not out of limp mode. Mechanic said we could really do with a new plug & a short section of the wires going into it as someone before us has really bodged this one. Also we may have wired it wrong.
Can anyone help with this please. Obviously we will buy it from you.
I am also ringing Jaguar but I dread to think how much money they will want!
