This is a particularly fine example of a Jaguar XJ8 Long Wheel Base Executive model saloon which will compare very favourably with others you will find for sale in the UK. It has been in single private ownership for the last 12 years, having been bought as an ex-demonstrator from a main Jaguar dealer in the Midlands. This car has been well maintained by Jaguar dealers and independent specialists and now and presents itself in fantastic near immaculate condition. First registered in September 2001, we bought this car to add to a nice collection of classic cars. It has been garaged and pampered ever since.
Those who know their Jaguars will appreciate that this is the right combination of model year, specification and body size to go for. This has the most reliable engine of the range and is fully loaded with all the options. (Sports models were SWB and lacked rear leg room, earlier models had engine lining problems). The 3.2 litre V8 engine is extremely flexible and has loads of power. Switch the automatic transmission to ‘sport’ mode and the car can be very fast and very exciting to drive. This car oozes quality, is a smooth and sedate limousine cruiser and at the same time can be very fast and nimble - with all the practicality of a 5 seater saloon. Not many drives are as much fun as this.
This car is very economical on the petrol, often returning over 30 mpg on a good long run. Mechanicals are reliable, parts are often quite cheap and running costs are low. This car has a full service history with a fully stamped-up record showing services at approximately 6000 mile intervals and confirming the 92000+ recorded miles. We have a file showing the MOT history, recent Jaguar specialist repair invoices and have a detailed AA Data Check report, carried out recently showing the car has no adverse history.
The car is covered when stored in the garage to protect the polished paintwork. It starts instantly every time. All four tyres have plenty of life in them and the car has recently had a thorough checking over. All the electrics work well. The sound system is superb and all creature comforts make the ride second to none.
The below-average mileage and single ownership is reflected in the lovely condition of the car exterior, interior and engine bay. This car presents itself very well, is close to becoming an appreciating classic car and has thousands of miles of trouble-free motoring to offer. It is garaged with other cherished collector’s cars and is now recommended to anyone who wants to invest in a long-term “keeper” and an appreciating example of this future classic.
