FS[Australia]: XJ6 Daimler series 3
Due to ill health, I am forced to sell my Daimler. Have owned for 20 years. Car was completely stripped and rust treated when purchased. repainted and all new seals etc. Over $30,000 spent. Features all Daimler electrics including sunroof. over the following years, Interior was completely renewed, new black/grey leather seats and trims, headlining, carpets etc. All brand new woodgrain, including sports walnut steering wheel. Suspension, front and back completely rebuilt, including new disks, callipers, Differential, bushes etc. etc. All suspension work professionally done by Roadbend Jaguar in Perth. new aircond system and has machine polished pepperpot wheels and brand new tyres. Need more?
Pioneer top of range CD player with Alpine 100 watts per channel amp and 8 speaker Alpine/Denon system. Too many more things to remember. always garaged and less than 1000ks since work done. Drives like a brand new jaguar should.
Sadly I let the rego run out when ill for a prolonged period. the down side, motor runs great, but needs a little work, top timing chain has some broken rollers and rear crank seal leaks. has been sitting in garage now for about 2 years collecting dust. I have been offered to split it up for parts, As a Jaguar enthusiast it would be criminal to wreck it. Would definitely suit some one considering restoring a similar thing, you would save a fortune on parts.
It has to go soon, I would consider any offer around 3 thousand dollars, the rear suspension alone I could sell to Hot rod club for that price. Not going to happen though.

seems I have almost run out of time to move the Daimler. with much regret I will be forced to let a wrecker take it away soon. So, the whole car can be had for $1000.00. as long as it's within the next week or so. Some one has offered $700.00 for the wheels alone, but not unless they can replace with standard ones, so it can still be driven. will be advertised on local Gumtree this weekend.

Hi
Do the known faults make it a non driver?
Can you send me more detailed pics?
I am looking for one to play with.
Wrecking would be sad.
I am in Victoria , would like to think I could get it over here, drive it would be good?? Truck otherwise.

Hi Barney 21,
It has some broken outer rollers on top timing chain, still runs yes, drives really well. sadly unregistered?? Personally, I would not attempt a drive across the Nullabor, if the top chain fails, well that would wreck the engine. I will take some more pictures of interior and engine bay and post them tomorrow if you like.

That would help Thanks.
Does the car have any rust?
Any suggestion on where I would go to get a quote on fixing the timing chain and the rear main seal.Maybe the guys who did the restoration? Just by the way is the rear main a 2 piece seal or the later 1 piece. Is the seal leaking because the seal has gone hard/brittle or rear crankshaft end float. maybe you dont know?. Does the transmission have a shudder on take off?
Does the engine hold oil pressure?

Hi Barney,
Thanks for your interest.
well I ran out of time, removal truck parked in driveway as I'm typing this. A friend offered to put the Daimler in his garage, so ,as it was only a short distance I got a local tow truck to take it there. Well, turned out the driver was a Jaguar fan. offered me $1500 cash. he took it home.
I just think of it as many years of joy the Daimler gave me.
Best regards,
Ron.
