Default "thumps" from under car

Hi people,

I didnt post for some time cos was travelling. I noticed, almost from the first day I took 03 STR, that there is a "bump" sound with feeling it from underneath the car almost every time I come over a hump (a lot of them here) and that is anoying and I am worried now. Before I take the car to dealer does anybody know what it could be?
The car has done only three thousand kms.

Thank you guys

Thanks genius, yeah my car had only 1500 kms when I took it, the owner had it in the garage parked among 50-60 other cars (very very rich guy) and I took it for 30k which isnt great price at all but I couldnt resist cos its "brand new" & imaculate condition.
Uphhh.... I have to check that now with the dealer... hope not to expensive

Thnx again

I have the same sound coming from the back of mine espesially when I go over bumps slowly. Mine sounds like something is loose ang knocking around by the rear suspension. It almost sounds loke the exhaust is banging around. I had it checked out by the dealer and of course they couldn't find anything. I'm sure that if it was no longer under warranty they would found the problem right away!. I think it is the shock bushings and plan on having it looked at by someone else. I also get a hollow knocking sound from the rear when I go over certain road bumps.
I'll let you know what I find out and please do the same. It's a very annoying sound that I would like to get fixed!!

I'm pretty sure that the bushings can just be replaced.

B Mojo thnx man, you described the problem SO PRECISE and that is what I am experiencing(spelling!?).
I"ll try dealer to fix that, this morning I went to dealer servis and explained what is happening and the main guy said it is minor but has to check the car. I'll leave the car maybe tomorrow but first to convince them to do it without me paying.
I dont know why it feels better when someone else has the same problem but thats the fact. Anyway wish you guys a long happy trouble free drive with this nice cars!

ya the bushings usually don't last that long.. exspecially in the rear.. and you can get them separate .. i sell them in my store.. easy to change with the right tools.

So what do you need to know other than the year, model, maybe just a vin # to make it easierfor the bushings?
What tools are needed? Is there a DIY somewhere? Thanks jag genius

Hi guys,

B Mojo I just gor my car yesterday from the dealer and they did NOTHING to fix the "thump".. I am angry but the guy who sold me the car said he'll take take it back to service if not fixed.

Yesterday morning I spoke to main guy in the service, just to check what are they doing, and he assured me he knows the problem and mentioned BUSHINGS sohe will fix it... Uphhh
Nothing has changed, this morning "thumps" are back. I'll take it back after tommorrow I and probably get againthat boring Saab 95 as a temporary( new car, shifting pedals on the wheel-nothing special)

Bmw745 I'll check under the car, maybe there is poor guy there (hehehe)
As soon as finished (hopefully) I 'll post again.
Wish you all safe and cool drive!!!

Select doesnt cover rubber components. However is you can get dealer to say defective toe control link or defective wishbone, they will then cover it. Rear toe control links are very common to cause noise. Also front sway bar bushings go bad frequently.

FIXED!! They replaced the rear stabilizer links and the thumping and banging noise is completely gone!!
Now everything is nice and solid like it should be.

Great news badmojo!! Thanx a lot, i think this will help me since I got written assurance from the dealer that he will fix it but the problem was they(me) didnt knowwhere is the problem. The main service guy then said he found out the problem (to be honest I didnt understand his southeast asian accent and told him ok,ok just fix it!)but missing the parts so they will order them and soon fix it hopefully..
Thanx for sharing and safe drive
