Yes, the engines are the same BUT you will need to swap the PAS pump. The Power Assisted Steering pump/rack is different on the 2000MY (Ford Rack).

2001MY onward a ZF rack was used.

Just use the one that is in the car now.

Thanks bud... so just take the pump off the 00 engine and put it on the 02 engine before dropping?

Also i have now timing components on my bad engine going onto the new engine I'm guessing it won't be that hard with them out... any special tips or tools needed?

 

Just install the PAS pump from the old 2000MY engine to the replacement engine. Leave the hose on the pump due to the weird pipe connector. The Rack connector is normal.

The 2002MY engine MIGHT already have the newer timing components BUT I would check the engine number.
(Engine S/N 0108130000 onward)=2001, August, 13th, Midnight.
