Unhappy 01 Stype 4.0 No start, has spark, cranks

So I bought this Jag off a friend for 1000 after it randomly would not start. Its well kept with service records up to 120k (148k at the moment). I checked the inertia switch under the dash on the driver side, and nice a light scent of unburned gas coming from the exhaust while it cranks. However after checking for spark at the plug, I noticed the throttle body seems to be unresponsive. When cranking and pushing the gas pedal the butterfly flap does not move. another small thing I noticed was a melted diode that is not mentioned in the manual in the engine bay fuse box. I tried spraying starter fluid into the port on the side of the intake manifold while cranking and not even a pop anywhere. There was no pressure in the fuel rail that connects to the injectors. I'm not sure exactly what else to do from here since I could not find a fuse for the throttle body in the manual. I may start poking around with a volt meter to see if power is getting to the throttle body. Am I the only person to have this issue with an S type because I can't find much on issues similar to this. I'm no expert with cars to start with but this is the first time dealing with a Jag.

Hi,

download a copy of the JTIS from the stickies. This is workshop manual for these cars.

Ok so upon further inspection the diode for the fuel pump is pretty toasted so I ordered that and will let you guys know what happens next. Since I have had other shops look at this Jag I am not too optimistic in thinking they over looked something so simple but I'm eager to see what happens.

Replace the pump before replacing that diode or your marginal pump will burn that replacement diode right up.
