Hi all, I have switched forums. I retired my X300 and picked up a '04 S-Type 4.2 V8.
Over the next week or two I will be swapping out the factory radio and was interested in any opinions or advice from people that have done it already.
I plan to order the Metra 99-9501B black dash kit (I am going single din radio). I also was told to get the Metra 90-9500 wiring harness. I used a wiring harness on the X300 and it was a godsend, so that should be good.
They also advised I get a 40-EU10 antenna adapter. Not sure about that as I never listen to the radio.

I swapped out mine a year ago. The wiring harness was very helpful. Bought all components from Crutchfield.com, and they assisted in real time when I ran into an installation glitch during the install.
I don't know what the antenna adapter is, so can't advise about it. But I can tell you I opted to not install the mic thinking I wouldn't need it. But I was mistaken as the bluetooth connection always defaults to the system mic when I want to place a call or dictate notes and, of course, mine is not connected. So do take the time to hook up the mic.
Well yesterday I removed the double din factory fit radio/cd and replaced it with a single din Pioneer DEH-X8500DAB I removed from my trade-in. In the UK I bought the adaptor plate, jaguar to iso lead and a fakra to iso antenna lead for £19.95 and used the iso to pioneer lead I had already. So the install went smoothly, and I now have a coin tray and single din pioneer installed. Next job will be to remove it again at a later stage to fit the adaptor for the steering wheel controls.

You don't say what Jag model you've transferred you Pioneer system into. It's always helpful on these forums to identify the car you're talking about. Thnx.
