Default 1.5lb Pulley: Eurotoys vs. Mina Gallery

Looking to pull the trigger on a 1.5lb pulley for the STR. I noticed that the Mina Gallery pulley is more expensive. Is there any difference between both brands of this pulley? Leaning more towards the Eurotoys pulley based on price.

Can anyone offer advice?

Eh if memory serves me one is aluminum and one is steel.

dvsadam, the Eurotoys pulley is steel vs aluminum for the Mina. I used the Mina 1.5 and would endorse this pulley over that of Eurotoys due to the fact that it is aluminum. In addition to being much lighter than the steel pulley, it's much easier to install and exerts less pressure upon the blower nose bearing. Contrary to some who may claim it can slip, no such thing can happen, as the tolerance between the pulley and blower shaft is super-duper tight. I presently use a Eurotoys (steel) 3 lb. pulley as this is all that was available.

Thanks guys, appreciate the quick responses.

The other thing I was worried about was the installation. Eurotoys is advertising a special pulley removal tool to get the old pulley off. Would a regular mechanic have something like this? Or do I have to rent the tool?

You would most likely have to rent the tool unless you went to a shop that worked on 03-04 cobras. There are other ways to get it off (cutting) but you have to be careful you do not mess anything up.

A regular mechanic will most likely cut your stock pulley off. If you can find a specialty Mustang or high performance shop they may have the puller since I believe it works for other Eatons. A typical mechanic will most likely not have it since it is a specialize puller and they wouldn't see enough work to justify the costs of it and just tell you they have to cut off the old one as that would be easier to them.

dvsadam, have a competant mechanic take a rotary cutter and cut off the stock steel pulley= lot less $$$. Install of the aluminum Mina pulley is a matter of chasing the bolt down pushing on the pulley. Call Chris of Mina and tell him I sent you. He'll sell you the pulley for $175.

FYI, you won't get the aluminum 1.5lb off whole if you ever wanted to go back to stock...

I would recommend you e-mail both companies or give them a call and ask this question. I did that and I made my decision rather quickly and I am sure you will do the same.

Also, if you buy one, please upload the install instructions. Thanks

Likely a 25 hp increase with the 1.5 and hi-flow cats.

The whine will come on a little bit sooner as well...I would strongly recommend replacing the S/C belt as well, unless you know it was changed recently...

Be advised the stock STR suffers from heaksoak, the 1.5lbs makes it worse and the 3lbs worse yet...

In between runs a "Chiller Killer" quickly cools the intercooler and charge coolers.

I wont purchase until the end of the year as I need to pay off the car first. I decided on the aluminum over the steel after speaking with some aero engineers at my old job, and doing some research on svtperformance.com . like I said, its best to ask both distributors, you might be able to get a better deal too.

Default pulled trigger on Mina 1.5lbs more accurately 1.7lb pulley

...Thought I would chime in here and give you all my 2 cents on this topic. I spoke to Chris this afternoon from Mina Gallery and also Mike from Eurotoys, talked to both for awhile on the phone about the pulleys and Low Temp Thermostats. At the end I was sold on buying from Chris at Mina. First reason, its cheaper $175 as compared to $245 from Eurotoys. Secondly, Chris told me his pulley is more like 1.7-1.75lbs than being at 1.5lbs after extensive bench testing(ask him to explain it more in detail if you like to understand). They did a revision on their pulley design and the material is some kind of modified aluminum if I'm not correct. But anyhow the price and Minagalleries reputation is what got me sold on it and hopefully come next week it'll be installed once I get it.

I'm doing this because just today my Fckn' Coolant Expansion tank was seeping coolant somewhere. I tracked it down to the Bleeder Cap. I just went to turn it just soo slightly it snapped off I was like WTF!!! This all happened this morning before going to work, to make story short, I think it was a sign for me to finally come and do the pulley upgrade and install a low temp thermostat and get a new Coolant Expansion Tank. Funny thing is the notorious nipple breaking never happened, it was the Bleeder Cap!!! But anyhow I'll get some pics up and open up a new thread, maybe I can take a video of the pulley install and the expansion tank removal while the mechanic does his job, we'll see. Or I might end up taking pics only, who knows

K&N a/f, qwikets air intake tube, 1.5 lb. pulley, hi-flow cats, and x-pipe likely allows an additional 40 hp and 50 lb/ft torque.

That is to a T what is sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Gonna dyno her at the other end, we will see what they do in combination.
