Default 2 problems and 1 unresolved doubt that drive me crazy

Hello friends, first of all, thank you for entering and reading my post, I hope you can help me.
1- oil leak in the right valve cover, the oil gets all over me little by little and I have to clean it all the time, I have changed spark plug gaskets and another sensor that is there that I don't even remember what it's called.. .etc and the problem continues, I don't know what it could be...

2- Cold starting problems, it is quite difficult to start but then everything goes great, no jerks or anything, everything smooth, I changed the spark plugs, coils and battery. Last year I bought another new battery to rule out that being the case.

3- I would like to know if it is possible to place the front bumper of the 2.7 or R type model

1. Have you replaced the entire valve cover gasket or just the spark plug gaskets?

Most of our cars are approaching at least 15+ years old, and as time goes by, rubber gets brittle and hardens thereby introducing leaks. Also another important question is whether or not you ordered an oem replacement for said gaskets or if it’s an off brand like Fel pro. After having worked at a shop for a few years, I can say that I’ve had trouble with off brand gaskets before much more frequently than the oem stuff. It’s usually well worth the price to find an oem gasket set new than trying to cheap out and save some money in the short term just to have to do the job again.

2. Being as your spark plugs, coils, and battery are all relatively new, have you checked into the condition of the starter itself? Could very well be in need of replacement.

3. Are you asking if it’s possible to install the 2.7 bumper on an S Type R. Or are you asking if it’s possible to install a 2.7 bumper or S Type R bumper on a certain S Type?

Sort of confused with this one.

Excuse me, I mean if it is possible to install it without having to modify anything on a s type 3.0 v6 1999 bumper and doors of another model such as s type 2.7 or r type

And as for whether it is possible that it is a starter motor, I will try changing it but it really sounds good.

By the way, another recurring problem I have is that the coolant tank (with 120kpa cap) breaks. The last time I reinforced everything with fiberglass and it started to leak through the tube that connects below the tank (it did not have a metal flange). fastening) I have done cylinder head tests on the car and everything is correct

If your coolant reservoir leaks, you should replace it. If it leeks underneath, check the seals there.

When you write "Oil leak in the right valve cover"...: So you have a 1999 3.0L, yes? I do not know, if they used the same cam covers for the 1999 model as on the 2004 model, but if:
The cam covers of the 2004 S-Type are made from a Magnesium-alloy. Magnesium "acts" in the vicinity of iron and Aluminum as "sacrificial electrode". Or in other words: The cam-covers are either intentionally or unintentionally designed to self-destruct over time. Hence: Did you check your cam-covers, especially around their rims, for damages/holes?

Hi Alberto,

I had a few years of Spanish at school, but I needed the google translator anyway - so you wrote:

>> In this case the lids are plastic, I am going to try to buy the original gaskets or put a silicone strip before installing the old ones,
>> which I inspected in detail and they were not bad.

Yes, I am not to familiar with the S-Types before 2004. I know that the V8 S-Types have the plastic cam covers (same as on the X308 V8), but a V6 1999 engine is somehow different from the 2004 V6 (1999: 243hp / 2004: 235hp). Actually, a plastic cam cover could be equally damaged in the area, where the seals are. But you write, that is OK. It is important that you use the correct cam-cover-seals around the outside contour of the cam-covers and also new seals around the inside of the com-covers (= spark plug gasket. Also, you need to apply the red silicone (for hot temperature area use) additionally to the outer gaskets where there are sharp corners and where different parts join (under the cam-cover).

Obviously, the surfaces need to be very clean and oil free.
