Default 2000 S-Type 3.0 - A/C blows warm again after re-gas!

Hello all,

Been a while.

3.0 2000 S-Type.

My A/C system has a problem; with A/C light "on" cold air has been non-existent for some weeks now - feeling ambient/warmish.

Finally took vehicle for a re-gas - felt much better returning vehicle home however within a day the system has returned to blowing ambient/warm air, cooler on passenger side, but still warmish. NOT ARCTIC.

I did notice some small drops of green fluid beneath engine area a few weeks ago - would this indicate leaking gas?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Most likely has a leak. Have the shop put in dye. Drive it for a day and then the shop can spot where the leak is.
Mine has been a simple o-ring leaking.
Do the dye be four they put in parts like a compressor .

Thanks,

Are we certain it's a leak and not a problem elsewhere...or with the control system for example?

Will it still blow hot air with "a/c on" even if system is full and doesn't need a RE-GAS?

Thanks again.

No not certain, anything could be wrong, why not have the place that charged it recheck the pressures?
That will confirm or disprove the leak idea, if the pressure is good we can take it from there.
Check out this thread for some ideas https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...reasure-54416/ click Gus's link in post #17 for the pressure specs and take a look at this TSB.

If the system was low and it was serviced and it worked and the next day it was not I would say chances are good that you have a leak. I would pursue the leak first!

Thanks for your replies,

Well we have a serious customer service problem in the UK, so Jaguar will not be returning to that shop. Norri, my initial thought was "surely they checked the pressures..?"

...they simply re-gassed and threw my car out the door. Shocking service.

I also noticed there's an intermittent "hissing" coming from behind the dash when "a/c" is engaged, this was present months ago whilst a/c worked but diminished with time. It's back again.

Could the leak be anywhere, including behind the dash?
