Default 2000 S Type 4.0 w/ CATS

I recently purchased this car. The check engine light is on and there is a CATS System Failure warning. There is no Jag Dealership/Mechanic within 100 miles. A local mechanic that worked on my previous Jag (1988 XJ6) checked it out and said the control module may have been shorted by water leaking into the trunk. Upon removing and cleaning the contacts he got an open reading on one of the front struts. The OEM struts are expensive. Can this system be bypassed without an error code when installing Bilstein struts w/o CATS? Any information would be extremely helpful.

hello, from what I have heard the only way is to disconnect the module. Atleast that is what I heard, try that and see if the light comes on when you do that.
