2001 Jaguar S type 3.0 liter transmission.
2001 Jaguar S type 3.0 litertransmission.
I am in theprocess of changing the transmission fluid in my 2001 Jaguar S type 3.0 liter.
It does havethe Lincoln LS transmission so it is ‘Sealed for Life’
We pulledthe drain plug and drained about 3.5 quarts out of it, which is usual.
While thedrain plug was out of the pan we removed the Allen screw for the level check fromthe drain plug the reinstalled the drain plug into the pan.
We then openedthe “fill” hole and started in replace the fluid that had drained out.
Whileputting in the 2nd quart it started to flow out the “level tube”.
Does thismean the engine should be running while replacing the fluid to get the properfluid level?
Thanks inadvance for any help offered.

Welcome to the real world.
Yes, the engine should be running and temps monitored etc etc.
When I do ours, and I do not having the luxury of a hoist/lift, so I scramble around under each side.
I measured ours on the first drop, and 4ltrs came out, so same scenario as yourself.
I also did as you did, and then started the engine, and "brakes on hard" went thru the gears, and kept filling. I got about 3.5 until it dribbled again. So I replaced that allen plug, shut down the engine, and entered the last 0.5 ltr and that was it. Refitted the fill plug.
This procedure has been done 7 times now, the latest TODAY, and the stuff draining is now the same colour as the stuff going in, so in about 2 months the pan will come off and the new filter will be fitted. Then it will join the other Jags and get a drain and refill every 2 years.
I dont do the dribble bit anymore. I simply measure what came out, and put that back, plus 50ml for good measure. Trans works SWEET, so it is like me, not fussy at all.
