Finally found time to install the LEDs. No issues on the footwell soon as I found that I can twist the bulb holder from behind and take it out of the cone. No issue replacing the ones at the bottom of the front doors. The overhead was done but not after I had to search utube on how to remove it. So, how do I get to the bulbs in the sun visor? The bulbs are in the flap that opens to see the mirror. I attached a pdf but have not figured out how to display it.
Also, the rear courtesy/map lights and the boot lights do not work. Per the fuse box guide, the boot lamps use the same fuse as the petrol flip, so I know the fuse is good. Can anyone suggest what I should look for? Thanks

Reason: Edit typo in thread title
Ok, forget about the visor bulb cover, I managed to pop it out without breaking it. But looks like I cannot replace it with an LED one as it is a 14v little dimmer. In search of that now. However, I am still looking for the reason why the back seat and boot lamps do not work.
So sorry for the scant description, Karl. Did not think anyone will be interested.
I have not replaced the rear courtesy and boot lights yet. When I popped out the read lamps, they were not even connected. I found the wires and connected them but no lights. The boot lights are connected but not working. License plate lights are working and have been replaced with LEDs. Reverse lights were replaced with LED, and they are bright. I need bright ones as the window tinting is a little too dark. This model does not have a reverse camera or sensors, and I do not know if it should have them. it does not have folding wing mirrors either. I found some v14 LED bulbs to replace the visor bulbs and waiting for delivery. They may not fit, but here's hoping. To summarise, the rear interior lights and the boot lights are not working though they are connected and still have the original bulbs (I tested them, and they work).

Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town.
I had asked about the original bulbs because some LEDs do not play nicely with the various control modules. But for the moment, we are only concerned with why the original bulbs (tested good) are not working. That takes the LED conversion out of the troubleshooting flow, so that's good.
For the trunk lights, they get power through fuse F4 in the rear power distribution center. This same fuse also feeds the fuel door release, which you said is working. Try playing with the switch before doing anything else. It's in the trunk lid, just to the right of the latch. You'll see a rubber bellows over the plunger. On my '02, this switch often sticks. Wiggle it and it pops out as designed and the lights then turn on. IIRC, this switch also feeds the "Boot Open" message on the dash. You should be able to test the switch by watching for the message. I tried doing this by myself last night, but couldn't quite see the dash as I manually moved the switch, so enlist a helper. Had a thought just now that I could have pushed in the switch and held it with a piece of tape.
If the "Boot Open" message works normally, you'll have to dig a bit deeper. Wiring diagrams here, figure 09.1:
One area that could cause trouble is where the wire harness flexes at the hinge point. If your troubleshooting shows no continuity through there, it's possible the wires have broken due to repeated flexing.
The rear courtesy lamps are a bit more convoluted. Same figure in the wiring diagram, but it doesn't match what I have on my '02. (Same details in the '01 and '02 wiring diagrams). Above the rear grab handles, each side has an oval light assembly with 2 bulbs. Here's an image shamelessly stolen from eBay. Do your lights look like this?
The shorter segment with the dimple acts a switch. Push in on the dimple and a bright light inside that section will illuminate. This bright light does not illuminate with the other interior lights when the doors are unlocked or opened.
The longer segment is fixed and has a second bulb that is not as bright. This dim bulb only illuminates with the other interior lights.
In the wiring diagrams, these lights are labeled LH and RH Rear Map Lamps, towards the right center of the page. The diagram shows the internal switch, so I believe that is for the shorter segment with the bright bulb. I can't find anything feeding the dim bulb in the longer segment.
IDK what happened to my previous post, it seemed to have disappeared. I had time to follow the test on the boot switch and found it stuck. Some WD40, and it popped out. The boot open message came out, but no boot lights. I will have to check the wiring and connection since I had to wedge a piece of rubber between the switch and the base to get rid of the 'boot open'. Looks like something inside that switch needs fixing, or maybe there used to be something at the end of the switch. So, the switch is working but still no lights.
BTW, I have the same passenger lamps. I need to find time to sort that one out soon as this cold snap passes. Too cold in the garage. Thanks Karl

Update on the lights. Trunk/boot lights are now LEDs soon as I fixed the boot switch. Rear passenger lights are now also LEDs. They were not working because they were not connected. All good, Karl. Thanks for your post. It pointed me to what I should do. All good
