Default 2003 S-Type Brake Pedal Squeaking (Solved)

Has anyone come across their brake pedal squeaking? I do not believe my problem has anything to do with the brake system itself, but more to do with the brake pedal linkage under the dash. I am getting just an annoying squeak/squish sound when the pedal is depressed and released.

I have tried to hit a few areas with some WD-40, but haven't found, or wasn't able to address the pivot area creating the noise.

Can't say I've heard about a squeaky brake pedal before, but WD40 is NOT an appropriate or effective lubricant to fix whatever's wrong. It's not an appropriate lubricant for anything come to think of it.

Quite. WD = water displacement, as I recall.

Exactly- and the first 39 recipe attempts were not quite right.

Follow-up; I found the culprit to be the plastic brake light switch not seating against the plastic mount it twists into.

To rectify the problem, I unplugged the brake light switch, twisted the unit counter clockwise until it popped out of the mount.

With the switch removed I lightly coated the plastic pin and areas where the switch comes in contact with the mount with a white lithium grease.

Reinstalled, tested, and confirmed problem solved.
